Pam's Daily Wave...

Good Morning and Welcome to the Weekend 😊

"You’ll find me at the beach, she said

no need to look that far…

I’ll be alone with the waves, she said

as she headed out the door…

Nothing could give her the calmness

that the sea would give her soul…

Only the ocean understood her restlessness

she knew she had to go…"

by Pam Buchholz

So, I changed it up a bit yesterday....instead of strolling to the beach with my trusty coffee (the rain was super heavy at sunrise), I filled my thermal mug with hot chocolate ☕,and headed to the beach in Jake. I had some work to do on my laptop.....so of course, I had grabbed my bag, threw it into Jake, drove along the sand....and voila - my instant "office" 😉

My Beach Office

It was awesome, the sound of the surf making my morning feel delightful...and yes, I did get some work done!!

Heading South...?

As many of you know, I'm all about being "cozy" in the winter, and yesterday as I was watching the birds fly south, I began thinking about all the small things we can do to make our winter more enjoyable.

Now for those that have the time and the money...jetting off to sunnier climes is an option, or perhaps a spa stay in a mountain getaway. But you don't need to leave your hometown to have a more special winter.

I thought it would be cool to share some of the plans I have, for my "Wonderful winter adventures", so every few days, I'll post an idea, and hopefully it'll prompt your creative minds to think about winter adventures of your own.

The first one is super simple - My very own "Cozy Retreat Day"

It may take a little planning, but once you have assembled the things you need to create your retreat day....you'll be able to have one whenever you feel you deserve a little "escape day".

These are a few essentials I need:

  • A weekend day - when it's easier to shut your phone off

  • The day needs to be cold and preferably rainy (the weather forecast here, is pretty accurate)

  • No watches or clocks

  • I set up one of the small guest rooms in the inn (but am also happy to use my own bedroom), with plenty of water, coffee, hot chocolate and some snacks

  • Soft blankets and pillows

  • A fluffy bathrobe

  • A diffuser for some calming essential oils

  • Candles

  • Some great books, including a couple of my old faves

  • Yoga mat

  • Sketchbook and pencil

  • My trusty journal and pens

  • A couple of pre-chosen movies

  • I preplan meals for the entire day (I don't want to waste any of my day working out what's for dinner 😊)

  • You cannot feel guilty for taking this time out!

Obviously, I let JB know that I will be "retreating" that day....as this is going to be completely "me time". I can sit and watch the rain on the windows, and listen to the winds howl, as I sip my hot chocolate, wrapped up in a cozy blanket. With the scent of lavender diffusing in the room, I'll write my random thoughts and ideas in my journal, read a couple of chapters of my fave book (although often this is more than a couple📚), and watch a "Hallmark" movie if I feel like it - yes sometimes it just has to be done, especially an old Christmas one). As the early dark begins to close in, I'll light some candles and enjoy the flickering light show play on the walls (and munch on a few delicious chocolates).

So, there you have it, I'm sure you can come up with your own "Cozy retreat day" ideas - try it out, you so deserve it.....and let me know how it goes 💗

Atlantic Inn Sunset

I would like to leave you with some pics from last night that I took at the inn - the sunset sky was absolutely magical, absolutely no filter needed...

Until next time,

Take care, Stay Safe and Learn to be Kinder to Yourself....You so deserve it!

Hugs,

Pam
