This morning, watching the waves before the sun came up, I got to thinking about this proverb - and asked myself....am I observing, learning, growing and loving?
.......I'd like to think so, but I know for sure I can definitely work a little harder on each one of these.
Whilst I try to be observant, it's so easy to get caught up in our own drama de jour, that we often miss what is right in front of us. Looking a little closer and listening a little more attentively, is something we could all do a tad more.
For me, learning is a lifelong pursuit, and I don't mean the kind of learning that you do from books, as someone who reads a lot, this is not always the type of learning I need - it's learning from the mistakes I make (and trust me there are plenty to choose from 😉), from observing the world around me, and the people that live in it. It's retaining those lessons, and knowing how to avoid making the same mistakes in future. I've spent some time recently thinking about some poor choices I have made in the past, and the saddest thing was, that in several instances, I made similar mistakes again....In retrospect, the pattern is obvious. Isn't hindsight a wonderful thing???? Why didn't I learn the first time around?
So, I could spend the rest of my life examining every last detail of my decision, trying to work out why those patterns of behavior remained, why I wasn't wiser the next time around, stay in a cycle of self-blame...or, I can choose to break that pattern, learn from the past, move on, and be much more cognizant of the choices I'm making now.
By constantly observing and learning, we are growing all the time....hopefully becoming better human beings - a little older....a little wiser💕
And, as to "Loving" - who couldn't do with loving a little more? We all have the capacity to love and be loved, we just need to ensure we are open to both giving and receiving.

Back home.....and the moon's still watching over the inn 💕

And yes.....I was delighted to see so many pelicans 💕
The lone kayaker returned again this morning...
Last glimpse over my shoulder...
On my return the moon will still hanging around keeping a watchful eye over my beloved inn 💕
