Pam's Daily Wave...

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday – the last 21st day, of the 21st year, of the 21st century….and only 4 sleeps ‘til Christmas 🎄

Unexpected gifts come in all shapes and sizes, and some of the absolute best ones…don’t come in a box!

Several weeks ago, I noticed that my 20yr old son, Lloyd, who lives in Wilmington, NC, had “subscribed” to have my blog post delivered to his e-mail inbox every morning….and, although I was a tad surprised and delighted, I didn’t mention to him that I had noticed.

Now, you may be thinking what’s the big deal…. he’s your son!!!

The point is…..I’ve never asked Lloyd to read any of my writings – Sure, I’ve asked him occasionally to take a look at my "Atlantic Inn" and "My Atlantic Life" websites to review the content, format and presentation, as I have zero experience designing websites, and wanted his feedback on how it presented, from a “younger” person’s perspective.

But when it comes to the writings I share on my blog, I just assumed that like many 20yr olds, he was too busy trying to figure out what he wanted to do with his own life, to read a 54yr old woman’s life musings and meanderings – even if it was his Mom’s (or maybe because it was his Mom’s 😁)

So, yesterday, as we were catching up on the phone, Lloyd mentioned something that I had posted in one of my blogs…. surprised, I said “you actually read my blog?

He went on to tell me that, after he walks his dog early in the morning, he makes his mug of tea, and then sits and reads my Daily Wave - that it’s become part of his daily routine…

My heart filled with such joy at that moment, I never for a minute thought that Lloyd would be remotely interested in what I had to say. Like many parents and kids, we haven’t always seen eye to eye (well, when your “kid” is 6ft 2in tall….and you’re 5ft 1in small, that’s never really going to happen without me standing on a step stool or ladder), and have often felt in the past, that many of my words (okay….parental advice) were conveniently forgotten or ignored.

The fact that Lloyd was reading and enjoying my blog everyday was a completely unexpected and truly wonderful gift - and it got me to thinking….

How many times do we “gift something special and don’t realize it? It’s super easy to recognize a “gift” when it comes in a box and tied with a bow or wrapped in fancy paper with a little gift tag attached – but often the best “gifts” are the ones that we give with no pomp and ceremony….

The gift of Your Time, Your Love, Your Memories, Your Trust, Your Support, Your Thoughts and Prayers 💗

These are truly some of the most amazing "gifts" to give.....and the most wonderful "gifts" to receive🥰 True "gifting" isn't a seasonal, Holiday or material thing....we receive "gifts" every day, be thankful and enjoy them.

And please remember....You can "gift" all year round, and your life will be all the more fuller and much richer for it 💗

Until next time,

Take care, Stay safe and think about the precious "gifts" you may give or receive today (hint - it may not be in a box or a package).

Love and Hugs,

Pam
