Pam's Daily Wave...

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday....and 9 more sleeps 'til Christmas 🎄

So, with a few things to do early this morning, I decided to spend my "me time" on the front porch of the inn. With my huge, delicious mug of coffee (why does coffee always taste even better in the early hours of the morning!), my fleecy blanket and the sound of the distant surf as the “soundtrack” to my sunrise – my musings began... 😊

As I was just enjoying this precious moment, I began to think about the many things that we take for granted each and every day. Things that are just always “there”, that are always available, things we can always do, people that help or support us, people that love and care for us.

When I started making my mental list of all those “things” and people that are “there” for me whenever I need them – I started with some real general ones….

  • The wonderful, clean air that we have in Hatteras

  • The involuntary action of my heart, lungs and circulatory system, that allow me to get out of bed in the morning and breathe that fresh air, and that kept me alive during the night, whilst I caught up on some much-needed Zzzzzz’s 😴

  • The puppy kisses that are showered on me when I get up in the morning

  • The electricity that powers the lights, so I may see in the dark

  • The running water in the bathroom

  • JB coming up from the kitchen with a mug of freshly brewed coffee

…. I rapidly realized that my “list of things that are easily taken for granted” was going to be absolutely, enormously long – in fact I could spend all day writing this list, and would still not get through everything.

The sad part is so often we don’t really notice these people, actions, or things, until we no longer have them 😥

How often do you take for granted that your lungs will automatically work in concert with the rest of your body, to ensure you have exactly the right amount/percentages of oxygen and other gases to keep you healthy?

Unless you have an illness or experience an accident that affects your ability to breathe normally, or you spend time with someone who has respiratory problems – you most likely don’t think about it much at all. It’s not until we are affected by an illness or accident, that we notice how much we took that incredible, involuntary action of our body for granted.

Maybe you have someone in your life that’s just always “there”…. when you need a shoulder to cry on, to let you vent, give you advice or guidance…. that person that always celebrates your wins with you, or the person that makes you smile ….

JB makes me smile....yet again 💗 (pics on blog)

Until that one day, when you turn to them….and they are no longer there…they’ve moved on and for whatever reason are no longer in your life – then you notice them 😥

Now, it would be quite ridiculous to think we could acknowledge every breath we take…. every time water came out the faucet, every delicious mug of coffee you drink (for me, that would be a lot of time!!!), every sunrise, every sunset, every rain shower - the huge list goes on….so, I thought I would try to acknowledge at least one person every day that is part of my crazy, messy, imperfectly beautiful life. It may even be the same person everyday….

...and don’t worry, I’m not going to start thanking people publicly in my blog every day 😁

But I am going to make the effort to notice more of the things I take for granted every day, and also acknowledge at least one person that is “there” for me and my family.

Please, let’s not wait until the reason we “notice” things that happen in our busy everyday lives, is because they are no longer there, or it no longer works.

I’m definitely going to try a little harderWhat about You? What and Who are you taking for granted every day?

Until next time... Take care, Stay safe and today - I want to acknowledge and thank everyone that takes the time to read my blog 💗 Love and Hugs, Pam

I am going to make an effort to notice more things that I normally don't. That's sad not to notice everything that we have in our lives that's there for us.

Your words inspire me every day. I often think about the things you mention, but when I slow down to read them instead of them rattling around in my head, it brings more value to them. Thank you. (ps the link in the email does not take you here - take a look at it.)😀
