Pam's Daily Wave...

Good Morning and Welcome to my Atlantic Life in Hatteras 😊

Well, it's a wild one today here on Hatteras Island...the latest Nor'easter is definitely making its presence felt.

As I sit here writing, the wind is howling around the inn, and I'm reminded how fortunate we are that our beautiful and historic home is not ocean or sound-front. Although only a 3-minute walk for me to be on the beach, we are more protected where we are situated. I'm sure that without that small distance to the water's edge - the "Atlantic" would most probably be gone, lost to the countless storms and hurricanes that have ravaged Hatteras throughout the almost 100 years of the Inn's existence.

The Atlantic Inn....as is 😊

No matter how well a structure had been designed and built in the early 1900's, if it had been on the ocean front, I'm quite sure Mother Nature would have claimed it by now, particularly since the Inn was not raised above the flood plain level, until 2006. (The Inn had been severely damaged during hurricane Isabel in 2003 and was refurbished and reopened 2006 as The Seaside Inn). Both the distance from the ocean's edge and the raising of the Inn have helped the longevity of this precious building, which we now have the great fortune to call not only our business, but also our beloved home 💗.

I drove up to the old Cape Hatteras Lighthouse beach to watch the storm rage yesterday....it was pretty spectacular....My ocean was most definitely flexing its muscles and showing us who is in charge 🌊

So today, (although this was not what I had originally planned - we've had multiple guests cancel their stay with us at the inn, due to the adverse weather conditions) after doing some work around the inn, I'm planning to walk down to my ocean to witness its raw power and wild beauty, before heading back to the inn to get cozied-up in my beautiful quilt, and spend some significant time writing....🧾 - Making the best of the day!

Lovin' my cozy Quilt ... 💕

Until Next Time...

Take care, Stay Safe wherever you are....and if you're plans have to change, try to think how you can make the best of it!

Love and Hugs,

Pam 🥰

PS. As always, keeping the people of the Ukraine in my thoughts and prayers 🙏
