Good Morning and Welcome to my Atlantic Life in Hatteras 😊
Apologies for not posting yesterday....but as I've mentioned before, on moving to our island home, work-life balance is a big priority for JB and I - it's one of the main reasons we chose to take on this adventure in Hatteras.
We don't mind working hard, in fact we enjoy it, and it's super gratifying...and, have done so for most of our lives - but I've never been good at the work-life balance bit....it was always, work, work, and then some more work. On making the move to Hatteras, I promised JB I would ensure we had "balance" 😊.
One of the biggest differences for us is, after working for healthcare systems, the corporate world and academic institutions....we are working for ourselves. It's a completely different experience - one that brings much joy and satisfaction, but also many challenges (just as well I'm an Enneagram 8 personality type - the challenger/leader😉). I've gone from being from overseeing multi-million $$ budgets, to a small inn's budget.....although it's way, way different, when it's on a super small-scale and more importantly - It's your own money your juggling...️ 🤹♀️
After an incredibly busy April (for which we are truly thankful!), where we had some wonderful new guests/"friends", and to our absolute delight, had many returning "friends", that had "found" their way to The Atlantic Inn last year in our our first season as inn-owners, we decided to block all our suites/rooms off for one night, to take the day off.
On looking at the reservation software, it looks like our next "day off" may not be for a couple of months, so we thought we needed to take advantage of this quiet time.
So yesterday, after our check-outs, we had the day/evening to ourselves. After hanging out and playing with Bailey and Bodie for a while, we jumped in Jake and headed to the beach for the afternoon. It was an absolutely spectacular day....with the sun shining, a slight breeze taking the intensity out of the bright sun - JB was in his "Happy Place" fishing....and I was in mine - laying on the warm sand, listening to the surf, the words just began to flow from my pen and dance across the page....I wrote a new post for my Atlantic Inn blog, which I'll publish hopefully in the next couple of days, some personal "stuff" in my journal, and some new poetry 💗
And here's our "day-off" in pics....

Ready for an afternoon of bliss...

Some feathered friends that came to say "Hello"

My beautiful, beautiful, Atlantic Ocean 💕
And now....it's back to my "To Do" list, which just got a little longer after some creative ideas for the inn, popped into my head whilst I was in my "Happy Place" yesterday.

This morning, as we had no guests to serve breakfast....we just chilled with Bailey, Bodie and Pumpkin 💗

"My Space" this morning......I'll tell you all about my incredibly beautiful quilt in tomorrow's blog🥰

Take care, Stay Safe and....try to make sure you have work-life balance, it's a life changer for those of us who ensure they do now 💗
Love and Hugs,
Pam
PS. As always, keeping the brave people of the Ukraine in my thoughts and prayers as they continue in their struggles against the cruel Russian invasion 🙏

Pics are great as was your & JB's day. Everything looked so wonderful & peaceful. I think you both probably needed some down-time. Enjoy your new life and adventures.

Poor Pumpkin has contemplate on all of the stress! it’s not easy having to be fluffy and cute all the time! Rough life.. lol. Glad you have found space for balance. Have some down time does refresh your whole outlook. Pictures are beautiful! Miss that Atlantic Ocean and Hatteras life.
Work Life balance is so important! I have been terrible at it, but with my slight pivot in my career 3 years ago, I am able to do more of it. Everything happens for a reason.
