Pam's Daily Wave...

Good Morning and Welcome to my Atlantic Life in Hatteras 😊

It's been a week or so of incredible natural beauty here in my Hatteras home.... from soaring Ospreys to dancing Dolphins....roaming Deer to Flapping Turtles and so much more 💗

Apart from the turtle release that I was super lucky to find out about (Thanks Gina đŸ„°), where I specifically drove to see these incredible events at the other end of Hatteras Village....all my other wildlife (and some not so wild😉) sightings were completely unplanned, I was just taking a walk on the beach, working in the grounds around the inn, or out and about on errands.

Although I'm well aware (and truly thankful), to live in such an incredible environment here in Hatteras - with an inn full of guests, and lots of work to do, it can be all too easy to get caught up in the day and miss the wonderous sights that are abound on this incredible island.

But when we moved here, we decided that we would most definitely have balance in our lives....not work all the time - something that I never ever had, during my years in healthcare and clinical research. So, regardless of how busy we get, we both always make time (getting up at 5am helps 😉) in the day for some "me time" !

More importantly, I wanted to live my life being "present".....to take notice of my surroundings and be much more aware - to look more closely, to listen more carefully, to take the time to smell and taste, and to be cognizant of texture and touch. With this in mind, no matter where I am, even when I am not in a beautiful and magical place like my Hatteras home, I can see beauty in the most unlikely of places, I hear sounds that many are oblivious to.....I notice more. and am thankful that I have that ability.

The best part of this is.....it's an ability we all have.

One of the amazing gifts of being "present" is, your mind becomes quietened and calm, and as someone who has often struggled to quieten my "crazy, little lady brain" when it gets into one of its "maelstrom sessions", where my mind has so many things racing around, I can't focus (and sleep is completely out of the question) having a way to calm my mind, is absolutely priceless.

Now, initially you have to make a conscious effort to heighten your senses, so you may notice more....but, after a short while, you will find that you can do this without even thinking about it - You have become able to be "present" in your world....and it's a beautiful and precious thing💗

So, as promised, here are some pics that I have captured recently of nature around me:

This little lady was in the grounds of the inn...

Until Next Time...

Take care, Stay Safe and....Why not use this weekend to try quietening your mind and being "present" with your surroundings....you never know what you may find đŸ„°

Love and Hugs,

Pam

PS. As Russia continues to wage war against the Ukraine, I'm continuing to keep the people of the Ukraine in my thoughts and prayers 🙏
