Pam's Daily Wave...

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday from my Atlantic Life in Hatteras ๐Ÿ˜Š

So, Apologies for the delay in posting - not only have we got incredible friends staying in Hatteras for a vacation, but we also have some of JB's family visiting with us from California and Nebraska.....and, with all the remaining guests' rooms booked, it's been a super busy few days.

My escape to the beach yesterday ๐Ÿ˜‰

Some little friends joined me...

Fortunately, after breakfast was over this morning, JB went for his run along the beach whilst I finished cleaning up, and, on his return - I headed off in Jake to Ramp 49, where it was high tide ๐ŸŒŠ. Although it had been really wet and windy in the morning, the afternoon was awesome - a sunny blue sky with just a few fluffy white clouds....and the water was, as always spectacular. So, I took my little blue marble from the dashboard of Jake, and let it be at one with the waves for a short while. I love that my little blue marble has now been immersed in the beautiful blue ocean that it so reminds me of ๐Ÿ’—

My Ocean marble...

Speaking of my blue marble.....an unusual thing happened the first time I took it to the ocean.....something I didn't notice until I downloaded the pics from my phone to get them ready to post on my blog. When I looked at my marble in one of the pics, it looked like the outline of our beloved "Atlantic Inn" was inside the marble!!

Being a bit of a dreamer whose creative side amped up when I moved to the inn, I just thought it was my over-active imagination playing tricks on me.

Can you see the inn in my blue marble???

That was, until JB was later reading my blog and asked how I had managed to get the picture of the inn into the marble....had I super-imposed a picture of it on the marble, to give the impression that whilst looking at the ocean through the marble, you saw the "Atlantic Inn"?

I was speechless for a minute (yes I know, that doesn't happen very often ๐Ÿ˜„), so it wasn't just my imagination.....JB saw it too! Now, as you know if you follow my blog, or have visited with us at the inn, we are a 3 minute walk from the beach and although, when it was built almost a 100 years ago, you could see the ocean from the hotel - hence its original name of "The Atlantic View". Over the years the maritime foliage has grown considerably and lots of large beach front rentals have been built and have now blocked the "view" of the Atlantic from the hotel (and why we call it "The Atlantic Inn", so as not to mislead that there is a view of the ocean).

The Atlantic Inn

So, to see my marble look like it was reflecting the inn.....for me was absolutely magical ๐Ÿ’—

Now, was it because JB and I Chose to see it that way? Wanted to see it that way? but neither of us were thinking about the inn at the moment we were looking at the photo.

Although we know that our brain has the capacity to "fill in" gaps in our peripheral vision, does our imagination sometimes "see" what it wants us to see?

I wouldn't summarily dismiss the idea.....remember the coat hanging in your closet when you were young - you thought was a monster hiding in your closet?

If you look closely, the image begins to look like the refracted image of Jake the Jeep, which is what was behind me at the time I took the photo....or does it? You decide....๐Ÿฅฐ

Until Next Time...

Take care, Stay Safe and....take a minute to think....do you sometimes "see" what you want to see?

Love and Hugs,

Pam

PS. The brave, incredible people of the Ukraine remain in my thoughts and prayers as atrocities continue. I just hope people don't "choose" to forget about what is going on in their war-torn country, because it's better than the reality of what is really happening.
