Pam's Daily Wave...

Good Morning and Welcome to a brand new Week and the first full day of Spring from my Atlantic Life in Hatteras 😊

(Lots of beautiful pics on my blog this morning)

As I walked up the boardwalk steps over the dunes this morning, by the wooden seating that I pass every time I stroll to the beach, the words "Rest and Be Thankful" entered my head.

To me "Rest and Be Thankful" is an incredibly beautiful place in Scotland - the highest point on the A83 road, which sits at 803ft above sea level and divides Glen Kinglas from Glen Croe in the Scottish Highlands. From this point you can see the old valley road that was completed in 1750 - Rest and be thankful are the words inscribed on a stone near the junction of the A83 and the B828, placed there by soldiers who built the original military road.

Rest and Be Thankful, Scotland

William Wordsworth - a famous English poet even wrote a poem about this special place:

"Doubling and doubling with laborious walk, Who, that has gained at length the wished-for Height, This brief this simple wayside Call can slight, And rests not thankful? Whether cheered by talk With some loved friend, or by the unseen hawk Whistling to clouds and sky-born streams that shine, At the sun's outbreak, as with light divine, Ere they descend to nourish root and stalk Of valley flowers. Nor, while the limbs repose, Will we forget that, as the fowl can keep Absolute stillness, poised aloft in air, And fishes front, unmoved, the torrent's sweep, So may the Soul, through powers that Faith bestows, Win rest, and ease, and peace, with bliss that Angels share."

William Wordsworth (1770-1850)

And, as often happens when I'm on my beach watching the sunrise, my mind began to wander, and I found myself pondering on those words "Rest and Be Thankful" - what a beautiful concept. Our days can be so jam-packed full of all the things we need to do that day, often rushing from one place to another, not noticing our surroundings, just trying to get through the day, and accomplish all our tasks and plans. What if we made a point of taking 10 mins in our day, a break from our "busyness", and during this time, think of one thing that we are thankful for in our lives.......it could be so easy - the next time you stop for a coffee or cup of tea, just "Rest and Be Thankful" 😊, or what about at night, when you finally get to sit down....instead of immediately switching on the TV, why not just "Rest and Be Thankful" 💗

I was particularly thankful this morning for an incredibly beautiful sunrise....

Until Next Time...

Take care, Stay Safe and....think about taking that time out - what would you be thankful for today?

Love and Hugs,

I love your post. I have to say, I am very good at being thankful, but not really as much about the resting. I am still a work in progress (in that and many other areas) but am coming along.

Thanks - Keep practicing the "resting" part, it's important 😊
