Good Morning and Welcome to the weekend from my Atlantic Life in Hatteras 😊
So yesterday, I had to "go up the island" to Manteo to deliver Atlantic Inn brochures to the Outer Banks Visitor Center for the upcoming season. It was a full day event as I had a list of places I needed to go to whilst up there. I drove straight up to Kitty Hawk first, then multiple stops in Kill Devil Hills, and Nags Head, before heading to Manteo. I had quite a list of things to accomplish and was really thankful that I had some help from an awesome friend.
The Atlantic Inn ready for our 2nd year of being open to guests...💗
Yes, it's time....we're ramping everything up at the inn, as Spring and Summer are just around the corner. I'm super excited at the thought of starting our second year of being open to visitors. Last year, was incredible - I met some of the most interesting and wonderful people who quickly became friends, many of whom I'm delighted to say, are returning this year 💗
It got me to thinking....(I know, my crazy, little, lady brain again 😉) about the duality of my personality. How I love winters in Hatteras when it's super quiet, and I spend a lot of time on my own. Wrapping up in lots of layers, donning my faithful Uggs, and walking the sometimes stormy, usually deserted beach, then coming home to the inn, to cozy up in front of the fire with a yummy, warming hot chocolate, and a good book.......Lazy Sundays, watching football and spending time in the library lounge writing, feeling so snug, cuddled up in my big chair with a soft blanket, whilst it's cold and dark outside.....I completely embrace winter.
But, with the warmer, sunnier days that we've had in the past week, I've been reminded of how much I'm so looking forward to Spring and Summer - when I get to be surrounded by great people, that are coming to enjoy the beauty of our Hatteras home, my "uniform" becomes T-shirt and shorts (every day 😎), I swop my Uggs for my Olukai flip flops, or more often than not, just bare feet, strolling along the beach before sunrise, seeing people appear over the dunes to have their opportunity to witness one of our spectacular sunrises, feeling the warm water wash over my bare feet whilst watching some dancing dolphins, then back to the inn to prepare for breakfast time at the inn. Instead of carrying a fleecy blanket in Jake, the roof comes off, the windsurf board gets strapped in its place.... and blankets are replaced with multiple beach towels.

I'm so happy that I have the ability to love and embrace winter and summer, Spring and Fall equally, making the most of every moment regardless of the weather or factors that are affected by the time of year🥰
