Pam's Daily Wave...

Good Morning 😊

I hope you took my advice and were a little kinder to yourselves over the weekend,

and for those that had to work Saturday and Sunday, this can be done on any day...but particularly effective on your days off (and please, be sure to take days off).

I used to feel guilty when I spent time on my own, being "nice" to myself - as a wife, Mom, and career minded woman, I always thought I had too many other much more important tasks to be completed, than sitting around reading a book, or going for a walk. It took me a long time to realize that the more I pushed myself and didn't take time off, the more at risk I was of crashing at some point.

Years of not taking vacations, 60 plus hour weeks being the norm, missing family events, and way too many sleepless nights to ever count, finally caught up with me....and it wasn't pretty (but that's a story for another day😉).

Learning to accept that it was okay for me to take time out now and again was tough....I had fallen into the classic leadership trap of thinking everything would fall apart if I wasn't in control all of the time....on reflection, that could be construed as a little narcissistic of me, but I didn't see it that way at the time!

So, with my lesson learned, I now ensure that I always make a little time for myself - even when I'm super busy, and I would encourage you to do the same, it's easier than you think.

Yesterday, although I had plenty to do (I'm working on a short video for the inn, and also prepping for "My Atlantic Retreat" that is being held at the beginning of Nov, as well as the usual tasks associated with running a small hotel!), but it was an absolutely beautiful day and although there wasn't enough wind to go windsurfing....it was a perfect day to sit on the beach and write 😁. So, with a couple of hours to myself, it was a quick 3-minute walk to my ocean!

The water was so clear, so warm....and a little breeze took the intense heat out of the sun - An absolutely delightful afternoon, I stretched out, and just watched the waves breaking on the shore.....all was well with my world. Time to write 😊

Just in case you wonder....I love the beach as much in the winter as I do in the summer, and as it's so much quieter at the inn, I go to the beach for sunrise every day, regardless of the weather 💗

Imagine my delight when some dolphins arrived and put on a show!!!! It was incredible, they was so playful, diving out the water and splashing...they took my breath away!

My phone didn't capture very good pics, but you can see the fun they were having.

My perfect afternoon had just gotten even better 😊

Until next time,

Take care and be kind to yourself...you deserve it more than you know!

Hugs,

Pam

Just in case you couldn't read the words on the picture, here they are:

As the warm waves crash on my Hatteras home shore

-their blue hues twinkling in the sun,

I sit in quiet contemplation, listening to the lullaby of the sea

-my thoughts drift lazily on the ocean breeze

With my mind so free

-Imagination takes flight

Soaring like a beautiful bird above the waves…

Hopes…

Dreams…

Endless Possibilities…

“You can do this” the ocean gently whispers to me

You're my "mermaid self" inspiration. I've been spending much time staying close to home with Pru as my eyes continue to heal from cataract surgery. Although I'm weeks out since surgery, the dry eye syndrome that can happen weeks later continues to mean I practice patience in new ways. Thank you for your daily boost of good Atlantic vibes.
