Catching Pam's Wave...

Good Morning and Welcome to my Atlantic Life😊

So, it's been a bit of a hectic week...It's Friday again, and I cannot believe how quickly this week has gone by! As I sat on my beach this morning, watching the sunrise, I reflected on the past seven days, it definitely felt as though the universe had put me on some kind of a fast-forward mode.

We kicked off the season with some absolutely awesome guests/friends both returning and new, the kind that remind me of why I love owning the inn - they were just a delight to have staying with us. One rainy afternoon, as I walked through reception, I heard the sounds of a rather enthusiastic game of scrabble coming from the Library Lounge....to hear the laughter and enjoyment almost brought me to tears, as a pondered on the happiness that now filled the inn - such a stark contrast to the dark, sad, rundown old hotel that we had taken the huge risk on, just a few short years ago. These days it's so different, we have fun chatting over an early morning coffee with our guests, whilst they plan their days events, some jam-packed with activities, while others decide to just go with the flow that is Hatteras and simply relax (often to be found on a rocking chair on the deck, a comfy seat on the front porch, sunning themselves on the Courtyard Deck, or curled up in the Library Lounge watching a movie or reading a good book 😉). The "Atlantic" feels truly alive again, and I think the old inn loves being a relaxing haven from an all too often, crazy busy world.

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, we closed the inn to guests as we were having new carpets fitted in the hallways and Library Lounge. The timing of this worked well as it was my birthday on Tuesday and meant that JB and I could go out for dinner together...which we repeated on Wednesday night and Thursday night - what can I say... it was our last chance to eat dinner out together for a long, long time (well probably until the season is over😊) !!!!

I had an incredible birthday, JB surprising me not only with a beautiful dolphin pendant, but also baking me some Keto cupcakes, which I have to say, were absolutely delicious...I received so many messages, I was completely overwhelmed by the number of people that took time out of their day to wish me Happy Birthday, I felt so blessed.

I even managed to squeeze in some time at the beach, although the wind was pretty brutal on the beach on Tuesday, it was as always, stunningly beautiful, so I cozied up in the back of Jake with a mug of warm coffee!

And the perfect end to my day...a drive to the end of the island to watch the sunset 💗

Sunset with Ocracoke in the distance

It's not all been dinners out and birthday treats though, we've had a lot going on....putting some finishing touches on areas around the inn, we had decided to remove carpet completely from the stairs, so JB put in new stair treads (and then had to match the color with the other stairs.....many trips to the hardware store!!!!), which look beautiful, putting the Library Lounge back together after the carpet was fitted, food shopping for the inn (much different from our winter shopping, when we only have the 2 of us, Bailey, Bodie and Pumpkin to buy for 🤪), delivering HIM (Hatteras Island Meals) which is one of my favorite parts of the week, and after deciding that I will hold a women's retreat on April 20th-23rd, I started planning the format of the retreat. All will be revealed on Monday!

I'm off now to work on the retreat, but will leave you with some pics of how I started my day....
